Many cultures around the world have versions of curd or yogurt based dips or sides.
In India, we have raita!
But Tzatziki, my dear friends is not to be confused or interchanged with raita.
Tzatziki, is a heavenly side that adds a punch of flavour, acidity and balance to a dish.
If you plan to have people over for lunch or dinner, try out this combination. It is easy to make ahead and store and can be easily doubled or more in quantity too.
Curd: Two cups
Garlic: 4 cloves
Lemon Juice: 1&1/2 tsp
Capsicum or cucumber: 1/4 cup thinly sliced
Pepper: 1/4 tsp
Salt to taste
Grate the cucumber or thinly slice the capsicum depending on which one you plan to use.
Add salt to it and keep aside for 20-30 mins.
Separate the whey water from the curd. Lightly smooth the curd by whisking it with a spoon.
Now add all the ingredients including the cucumber/capsicum to the curd and mix well.
Serve slightly chilled.
